British Shorthair Cat

British Shorthair Cat

The British Shorthair Cat is a medium sized to large cat and it is a very powerful one. They are heavily muscled and have a rounded, thick appearance. The coat of the British is thick and dense and comes in a variety of colours.

The British Shorthair is a very pleasant cat to have as a companion. They are easy-going and placid. The British is a fiercely loyal, loving cat and will attach themselves to all family members. While the British loves to play, they don’t need constant attention.

The British also plays well by themselves, so they're a good companion for single people.

The British Shorthair is a big soft lump of a cat. These are the ‘gentle giants’ of the cat world. They are loving and affectionate. They are good with children and other animals. They do not continuously demand human attention and are quieter than their foreign counterparts. Nor do they have the highly curious or adventurous nature that gets many foreign breeds into trouble. If allowed out in the garden they are unlikely to roam and they are often more than happy to be indoor cats.

One of the reasons that the British Shorthair became so popular in the last century was because they need little grooming.

The coat is short and dense and they can easily look after themselves.

However, during seasonal changes when the coat is thickening or thinning, a daily brush should be considered to help them.
